An Afternoon with Tessa & Petr presents: Fixit Period — MANIFESTO
Join us for a special afternoon edition of An Evening with Tessa & Petr, featuring Fixit Period and their inaugural concert, Manifesto—an intimate and playful exploration of period music that invites audiences to experience centuries-old music in a completely new way.
Created by Sudbury musicians Arianna Verbree and Milas Hewson, Fixit Period is reimagining the practice of historical performance as something fun, creative, curious, and—most importantly—accessible.
Manifesto brings together music by composers you may recognize, including Telemann and Corelli, alongside lesser-known works by composers such as Duval and Jones. Performed on period instruments including baroque violin and viola da gamba, the program also incorporates familiar instruments like guitar and simple percussion, blurring the line between the historical and the everyday.
At the heart of Manifesto is a simple idea: this music belongs to everyone.
You don’t need to know Baroque music. You don’t need to know the difference between a modern violin and a baroque one. You simply need to come curious.
Together, Arianna and Milas bring extensive classical and orchestral experience to the project, with performances spanning the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, North Bay Symphony Orchestra, Timmins Symphony Orchestra and beyond. Their musical lives also reach far outside the concert hall—from jazz and popular music to indie projects and contemporary performance—bringing a fresh, open-minded spirit to their exploration of historical music.
Spend the afternoon with us in an intimate setting, discover instruments and music you may never have encountered before, and experience the beginning of Fixit Period’s first season.
Come as you are. Listen closely. Get curious. Period music is for everyone.
Fixit Period gratefully acknowledges Daniel Cabena and Wilfrid Laurier University for the use of their period instruments.
